Who we are
Land to Grid ("we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Contact: hello@landtogrid.co.uk. [Insert legal entity name, registered address and ICO registration number.]
What we collect
- Your name, email address and (optionally) phone number.
- Information about the land: its location, approximate size, how it is owned, current use, road access and any notes you add.
- The result of our automated screening, and basic technical data needed to run the website (such as a session cookie).
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To screen your land and show you the result – legitimate interests / steps taken at your request.
- To contact you about the result and possible next steps – your consent, given by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us.
- To keep records of enquiries – legitimate interests in running our business.
Automated screening
Your land is scored automatically using public data on grid substations and planning designations. The result does not have any legal or similarly significant effect on you, and any land you submit with a Green or Amber result is reviewed by a person. You can ask us to review a Red result manually.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to host this website and store records (for example our hosting provider and our database/CRM provider), under contract. Your postcode or location (not your name) is sent to public lookup services (postcodes.io and planning.data.gov.uk) to run the check. We will only share your personal details with a battery storage developer or investor with your agreement, after we have discussed it with you. We never sell your data.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't proceed are deleted after 24 months unless you ask us to keep you informed. If we enter into an agreement about your land, records are kept for as long as needed for that agreement and for legal and professional obligations (typically 6 years after it ends).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Email us to exercise these rights. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).
Cookies
We use one essential session cookie to make the form work securely. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles, which are loaded from their servers.
